Pork
and Beans Secret Exposed.
CAMDEN, NJ - You may have noticed recently Pork and Beans has
been boasting "now with more beans". Our investigative reporter
wouldn't rest until he found out how this could be. Was the can
larger? Was less pork (than the single white globule of fat) used?
We placed a call to the manufacturer and found the shocking truth.
Their own employee was reluctant to admit that any less pork was
used in their product. Instead he claimed they had found "a different
way of packing the beans". He did confess there was less sauce or
syrup in the new version. But could this alone accomodate significantly
more beans? When pressed on the issue of decreasing the pork the
company representative countered "No the pork has remained the same.
For the last several months they've been shredding the pork. So
that it's more equally distributed through out the product." But
if it isn't less pork then how were they squeezing more beans into
a can the same size? The answer shocked even us. "It's a different
bean." It's smaller. Smaller beans!?
The labeling certainly did not brag "now with smaller beans". Nor
did it boast "now with even less pork". If that's not misleading
marketing well then we don't know beans.
