Thirteen going on 30
The ads may make this seem like a just a wacky teen
comedy like Tom Hanks"Big" but this movie has a dark
side. Jennifer Garner plays Tracy the titular
thirteen year old who has just given up her Barbies in
favor of booty revealing blue jeans. Her mom's a sober
AA type and that provides a comedic goldmine. Like
when the neighbor accidentally eats a cake meant to
celebrate twelve years of sobriety. The spit take
when she's told is priceless! Tracy has all the angst
and torment of a typical teen. She has her wacky
quirks like cutting herself, but that's just an
excuse to wear those sassy Britney Spears-style socks
on her forearms. Tracy takes up with the most popular
girl in school and goes party crazy. All the typical
teen stuff, shoplifting, boys, drinking, drugs and
more cutting herself. Another recipe for laughs there.
What is Tracy so intently etching into her skin: "How's
my carving? Call 1-800-KIDS-CUT" Ha!
 But
the laughs don't stop there Garner overdoses
snorting Ritalin and goes into a coma for seventeen
years! When she wakes up she's lost touch with all
her old friends but finds herself the editor of a
fashion magazine. But she still has the mind of a
drug addled thirteen year old. And wouldn't you know
it, all the adults are dressing in clothes that thirteen
year old girls would love.
